This course combines underpinning anatomy and physiology with hands-on massage training, client care, treatment planning and professional practice, taught in groups of no more than four so that your technique is corrected while you are learning it.

This is a blended learning practitioner diploma, combining independent home study with three days of practical, face-to-face training.
The blended approach allows you to complete your underpinning theory before attending the practical training days, allowing more time to focus on developing your hands-on skills, treatment techniques and practitioner confidence.

Practical training will cover the development of a full-body Swedish Massage treatment, including appropriate techniques for areas such as:

You will develop your ability to adapt pressure, pace and technique according to the individual client and the purpose of the treatment.
04Client consultation & treatment planning
Professional massage begins before the hands-on treatment. You will learn how to:
- Conduct an appropriate client consultation
- Gather relevant health and lifestyle information
- Identify treatment goals
- Obtain informed consent
- Establish appropriate boundaries
- Identify contraindications and precautions
- Plan an appropriate treatment

05Contraindications & client safety
Client safety is a central part of the training. You will explore:

- Working within your scope of practice
06Holistic & trauma-informed practice
The Pathways Method™ recognises that massage is not simply about technique. You will explore how to create a treatment experience that is client-led, respectful, safe, choice-based, professional and supportive.

Accreditation
The course is accredited by IPHM, the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.
On successful completion you receive the Advanced Practitioner Diploma in Swedish Massage, alongside an Accredited Certificate in Anatomy & Physiology.
Completion may enable you to obtain practitioner insurance, subject to your chosen insurer's requirements. Always confirm your individual insurance requirements before beginning professional practice.

01Entry requirements
This course is suitable for:
- Beginners wanting to train as professional massage practitioners
- Those looking to start a career in massage therapy
- Existing holistic therapists wanting to add Swedish Massage
- Practitioners looking for a comprehensive massage qualification
- Individuals wanting to develop a professional treatment practice
No previous Swedish Massage qualification is required. Students must be willing to participate fully in the practical elements of the course and complete the required home study and assessments.

02Assessment
Assessment is designed to ensure that students have developed both the underpinning knowledge and practical competence required. Assessment may include:
- Completion of pre-course learning
- Written / knowledge assessment
- Practical demonstration
- Practical competency assessment
- Case study requirements where applicable
- Completion of all required course elements
Certification is subject to successful completion of the required assessments and assessor approval.
03Payment & booking your place
Your place is confirmed once either the £100 deposit or full course payment has been received. By booking your place, you confirm that you have read and understood the course information and booking terms.

Failure to pay the remaining balance by the required date may result in your place being released.
04Cancellation & transfer terms
Cancellation by the student. The £100 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, except where Pathways Training Academy agrees otherwise at its discretion.
If you cancel more than 10 days before the course start date, payments made above the deposit may be transferred to a future course date, subject to availability and agreement from the Academy. Cancellations made within 10 days of the start date are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cancellation by the Academy. If the minimum number of students is not reached, or if a course must be cancelled or rescheduled, you will be offered transfer to an alternative date or a full refund of payments made.
05Practical participation
This is a hands-on practitioner course and students are expected to both give and receive massage treatments as part of their practical training.
Experiencing the techniques as a client is an important part of developing an understanding of pressure, positioning, communication and the overall treatment experience.
If you are unable or do not wish to receive treatment, you will need to provide your own suitable model for the practical elements. Please discuss any concerns with the Academy before booking.
06Professional responsibility
Completion of this qualification does not remove the practitioner's responsibility to work within their own scope of practice. Practitioners are responsible for:
- Maintaining appropriate professional insurance
- Working within their level of training and competence
- Completing appropriate client consultations
- Obtaining informed consent
- Following relevant health and safety requirements
- Maintaining appropriate client records
- Referring clients where appropriate
- Maintaining their professional knowledge and development
Pathways Training Academy reserves the right to make reasonable changes to course content, learning materials, trainers, dates or delivery arrangements where necessary. Any significant changes will be communicated to students as soon as reasonably practicable.
The Academy also reserves the right to refuse entry or withhold certification where course requirements, assessment standards, safety requirements or appropriate professional conduct have not been met.
