This certificate is a requirement of, and included within, the Swedish Massage, Holistic Massage and Advanced Body Massage diplomas. Students on those courses apply this learning during their practical face-to-face days.

Assessment


Final assessment

Thirty multiple-choice questions, completed online once you have worked through the required learning.

30 marks in total, with a 70% pass mark, which is 21 out of 30. A practice mock assessment is provided first, so you can check where you stand before sitting the real thing.

Access to the final assessment is provided once you have completed the required course learning. Certification is issued following successful completion of the online learning and the final assessment.

  • Recognise how posture, muscle tone, breathing and nervous system state may influence a client’s presentation
  • Apply anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe and effective Swedish and holistic body massage
  • Adapt massage positioning, pressure and approach according to individual client needs
  • Recognise relevant contraindications, cautions and changes that may require referral
  • Demonstrate an understanding of professional scope, consent and safe, client-centred practice
  • Integrate anatomy knowledge using the Pathways Method approach of Structure, Tone, Breath, Regulation, Flow and Safety

This course is suitable for:

No previous anatomy and physiology qualification is required. Students should have a good standard of written and spoken English sufficient to complete the online learning and written assessment.

As this is an online independent-learning course, you will need access to a suitable device and a reliable internet connection.

  • Existing massage and holistic therapists wanting to strengthen their anatomy knowledge
  • Practitioners training in Swedish or holistic body massage
  • Those wanting a stronger understanding of the body and how it relates to massage practice
  • Practitioners looking to refresh or consolidate existing anatomy knowledge

03Course completion and certification

Students are responsible for completing the required online learning, knowledge checks, revision activities and final assessment.

Access to the final assessment is provided following completion of the required course learning. Students must complete the final assessment independently and follow all assessment instructions provided.

Certification is issued once the required assessment standard has been achieved and all course requirements have been completed. Pathways Training Academy reserves the right to withhold certification where the required standard has not been met or course requirements remain incomplete.
